THE STORY OF Al-SIDRA CENTER

Al-Sidra was founded in 2012, By Sheikha Azza Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah, The Chairperson & Founder of Al-Sidra Association, Dr. Shafikha Al Awadi, Deputy Chairperson & Chemotherapy Consultant , Dr. Rossol Boresli, Psychiatrist Consultant, and Ms. Altaf Al Essa- Psychotherapist, with the support of the Late Amir of Kuwait His Highness Sheikh Sabah AL-Ahmad Al Jaber Al-Sabah, may his soul rest in peace. Based on Cabinet Resolution No. (15/A) on 23/01/2012, the Ministry of Social Affairs declared Al-Sidra Center for Psychological Care of Cancer Patients. Al-Sidra Center provides psychological support to cancer patients and their families and help them better cope with this life-changing challenge through our partnership with the Ministry of Health.

 

Our services are not limited in providing psychological support and activities, but also financial support to cancer patients who are unable to pay the cost of their diagnosis and treatment at the Kuwait Cancer Control Center and its affiliated centers. The Social Service Department in the hospital transfers patients to Al-Sidra Center after studying the financial situation of each one and assess of their need for assistance, and then, we, at Al-Sidra, take it from there.

 

During these years, we have expanded our premises to accommodate a larger number of patients. We work continuously on enhancing our services to align with patients psychosocial and physical needs. Al-Sidra Center services are available, free of charge, to all citizens and residents in The State of Kuwait
